What is Intuitive Eating?
Free Guides
You struggle with all-or-nothing tendencies (aka you’re often either “on” or “off” the wagon - no in between)
Spend much of the day worrying about what you ate (or didn’t eat) or what your body looks like.
You want to break free of the diet-binge-guilt cycle, but the idea is scary.
You eat on autopilot and can't seem to stop when full.
You're ready to remove the guilt and shame and enjoy food.
You don't eat the foods you love, because you’re afraid it will be hard to stop.
You're done trying the next best diet, cleanse, or trend and want to find a normal, everyday way to eat.
I get it.
As a certified intuitive eating counselor, body image specialist, & health and well-being coach I have worked with hundreds of people to help them cultivate a healthy relationship with food, movement, and their bodies.
I know that forgoing dieting and the diet mentality is not an easy task. We live in a messed up, oppressive diet culture where every day your are inundate with messages about dieting, weight loss, and all that is "wrong" with your body.
Strive to adhere to some unattainable perfect vision of what your body and life ‘should’ look like.
Have spent years trying to "fix" your eating habits, your body, or yourself - but nothing seems to work.

LEARN MORE
Hi there
My approach is highly individualized and includes work in intuitive eating, mindfulness, self-compassion, self-care, natural movement, Pilates, the principles of Health at Every Size (HAES), and psychology including several therapeutic modalities such as MI, and CBT.
I take a holistic self-care approach, meaning that I'll help you learn how to take care of yourself in all aspects of health – including food, movement, stress management, coping skills, sleep habits, boundary setting, and more.
In short: I'll help you go through the “mud” (as one of my clients likes to call it) that is divesting from diet culture, supporting and holding space for you as you sit with all the discomfort this brings up, and guiding you back towards your body and yourself.
It's possible, and I want to help you get there.
I have experience in a variety of specialty areas including intuitive eating, life transition, stress management, healing from chronic dieting, health behavior change, binge eating, emotional eating, body image healing, whole body health, back pain, cultivating joyful movement, and more.

Reject The Diet Mentality
Discover the truth about dieting, including: the roots of diet culture, why dieting and restriction does more physiological and psychological harm than good, and the real reason you’re so obsessed with health & what your body looks like to begin with. If you allow even one small hope to linger that a new and better diet or food plan might be lurking around the corner, it will prevent you from being free to rediscover Intuitive Eating.
Learn How to Listen to Your Hunger Cues
Are you a clock eater? Feel like you can only eat at set meal times, and not eat past 8pm? This principle will teach you how to listen to your unique hunger and fullness cues, and why honoring them will actually make you obsess less about food. Otherwise you can trigger a primal drive to overeat. Once you reach the moment of excessive hunger, all intentions of moderate, conscious eating are fleeting and irrelevant.
Make Peace With Food
Is there a food you’re terrified to be in the same room with? Call a truce; stop the food fight! Give yourself unconditional permission to eat. In this principle, you’ll learn why you feel so out of control when around certain foods and how to both introduce them into your life and enjoy them free of guilt. If you tell yourself that you can’t or shouldn’t have a particular food, it can lead to intense feelings of deprivation that build into uncontrollable cravings and, often, bingeing. When you finally “give in” to your forbidden foods, eating will be experienced with such intensity it usually results in Last Supper overeating and overwhelming guilt.
Challenge the food police, and Media Influencers
Everywhere you turn, especially in a social media saturated world, you will find more and more diet rules. That you are being “good” if you eat a salad and “bad” if you eat a cookie. Learn to shout a resounding “no” to the Food Police – that voice inside your head that holds on to any diet rules and judges you in every food choice you make, that likes to drive the dieting cycle with guilt and shame. The police station is housed deep in your psyche, and its loudspeaker shouts negative barbs, hopeless phrases, and guilt-provoking indictments. Chasing the food police away is a critical step in returning to Intuitive Eating.
Discover the Satisfaction factor
In our compulsion to comply with diet culture, we often overlook one of the most basic gifts of existence—the pleasure and satisfaction that can be found in the eating experience. When you eat what you really want, in an environment that is inviting, the pleasure you derive will be a powerful force in helping you feel satisfied and content. By providing this experience for yourself, you will find that it takes just the right amount of food for you to decide you’ve had “enough.”
Feel Your Fullness
In order to honor your fullness, you need to trust that you will give yourself the foods that you desire. Listen for the body signals that tell you that you are no longer hungry. Observe the signs that show that you’re comfortably full. Pause in the middle of eating and ask yourself how the food tastes, and what your current hunger level is.
Cope with Your Emotions with Kindness
Learning to cope with emotions without food is part of becoming an Intuitive Eater and knowing to differentiate between physical and emotional needs. In this principle you will uncover the root cause of emotional eating, how emotional eating presents itself, triggers of emotional eating and how to cope, while discovering satisfaction. You'll find kind ways to comfort, nurture, distract, and resolve your issues. Food won’t fix your feelings. It may comfort for the short term, distract from the pain, or even numb you. But food won’t solve the problem. If anything, eating for an emotional hunger may only make you feel worse in the long run.
respect your body
You can’t hate yourself into a version of yourself that you love. In this principle, we’ll explore non-fluff strategies to work towards body neutrality and body respect and discover what enjoyable, intuitive movement looks like for YOU.
Movement—Feel the Difference
Learning to cope with emotions without food is part of becoming an Intuitive Eater and knowing to differentiate between physical and emotional needs. In this principle you will uncover the root cause of emotional eating, how emotional eating presents itself, triggers of emotional eating and how to cope, while discovering satisfaction. You'll find kind ways to comfort, nurture, distract, and resolve your issues. Food won’t fix your feelings. It may comfort for the short term, distract from the pain, or even numb you. But food won’t solve the problem. If anything, eating for an emotional hunger may only make you feel worse in the long run.
gentle Nutrition
Learn how to welcome nutrition back into your life without falling down the diet rabbit hole again, and how to make intentional food decisions that honor your health and your happiness. Remember, you don’t have to eat perfectly to be healthy. You will not suddenly get a nutrient deficiency or become unhealthy, from one snack, one meal, or one day of eating. It’s what you eat consistently over time that matters. Progress, not perfection, is what counts.
Overcoming Barriers: Importance Of A Body-Positive Environment
Who you choose to surround yourself with day in and day out will play a part in your healing journey. We'll explore opportunities to create a living space and social environments that will compliment your human biology and natural tendencies to respond to a welcoming and neutral atmosphere.

These video or in-person 35-minute sessions (or bi-weekly 70-mins)
commonly take place weekly, (or every other week 70-mins may be an option.) I coach people worldwide virtual, or in-person local to Keene NH. We are born natural intuitive eaters. Babies cry, they eat, they stop until they’re hungry again. Kids innately balance out their food intake, eating when they’re hungry and stopping once they feel full. As we grow older and rules and restrictions are set around food, we lose our inner intuitive eater. We learn to finish everything on our plate. We learn that dessert is a reward, or can be taken away if we misbehave.
Intuitive eating is a non-diet approach to wellness that helps you break the cycle of dieting, heal your relationship with food, and get back in touch with the intuitive eater inside of you. Intuitive eating is not a diet. It’s a way to learn to eat outside of the diet mentality, with a focus on using your own internal hunger, fullness, and satisfaction cues to guide eating choices. But it’s much more than just the ‘hunger-fullness diet’ – we will explore your food beliefs, behaviors, and self-talk while delving deep into what food means to youIf you are exhausted and ready to ditch diets, stricked meal plans, counting calories, carbs, points, or macros, it's for you.
Intuitive eating is NOT a diet. Diets don't work. 90-95% of diets fail, yet you are often blamed - not the diet. In reality, it's the process of dieting that is the problem.
Intuitive eating is different. It helps you break free from the cycle of dieting and learn how to make peace with all foods (and movement).
While many of our clients are not happy in their bodies and would like to lose weight, this is not the focus, or goal, of our sessions. Weight loss must be put on the back burner as you go through the Intuitive Eating process. If you are focused on losing weight, you’ll undermine the Intuitive Eating process. We will certainly talk about your desire to change your weight, and your feelings about your body, but you will not be weighing in and we will not be using weight as an indicator of success or progress.
Some people naturally lose weight during this process, and others don’t. If you have been eating for emotional reasons or not paying attention to your intuitive signals, or if you’ve gone through a lifestyle change that caused unnatural weight gain, it’s likely that you’re not at your natural healthy weight right now. As you go through the intuitive eating process and heal your body from the diet mentality, your weight will stabilize at the place it is meant to be.
This is a very normal concern. It’s important to recognize that it is the dieting mentality that causes overeating and binging. Once you learn to make peace with all foods – and your body knows you can have these foods whenever you want – you’ll be able to truly listen to your body’s feelings of hunger, fullness and satisfaction.
It depends. Intuitive eating is the opposite of dieting. While dieting is easy at the beginning and gets harder (or impossible) as time goes on, intuitive eating is much tougher up front. It seems simple (eat when you’re hungry, stop when you’re full) but it’s more complicated. You have to undo all of the diet mentality and food rules in your head, get rid of your internal food police, and create new habits. It takes a lot of time and introspection. But while it’s hard at first, once eating normally becomes actually normal, you’ll reach a place of eating and caring for yourself intuitively – for life.
Life does not have a pause button. There’s never going to be a period time where things are suddenly easier. Often we throw the baby out with the bathwater and if we can’t do it all the way, we don’t do anything. Intuitive eating is not about perfection – that’s the beauty of it! Many of my clients are busy professionals, moms with days that are non-stop, or people who travel constantly. When you work with me you’ll learn how to make changes – and maintain them – in the midst of your normal, busy, life. We take care of our families and others we love, so why not do something to take care of ourselves?
